From juggling to Java: About Gavin

Gavin originally trained as a professional juggler but made the transition to graphic and database design for the Web 6 years ago.

Initially starting in the look and feel of Web sites, after 3 years he developed an interest in database driven Web sites including e-commerce set up and content management systems. He has an interest in accessible design for the disadvantaged and information architecture which deals with the way information should be presented to a Web site visitor in order for them to quickly and efficiently find the information they require.

Trading pens for keyboards: About Narelle

Narelle began her career in journalism and public relations in 1995 in Australia but by 1999 it was clear that her main love was for Web design. She made the official career change in 2001 when her active interest in the industry led her to be noticed by the communications department at the Scottish Prison Services (SPS). She worked there for two years as a webmaster developing a series of intranet pages for internal departments, a database driven Web site for the International Roundtable for Correctional Excellence and assisted in the launch and maintenance of the official SPS Web site.

She is currently studying for a computer science degree through the Open University and, like Gavin, is particularly interested in accessibility and Web standard compliance.
